About the event

9/1 and 9/15 will be held online, 10/6 and 10/20 are in person on our farm located at 41 Judge Ln, Bethlehem, CT.

Equine and Animal Supported Psychotherapy is a field gaining traction in clinical practice as we continue to see the benefits and the fast-paced results it provides clients in mental health.  It is also a field whose training requirements are vague at best.  This course, which has been approved for 18 CEUs by NASW, provides an eclectic certification where clinical mental health pofessionals will be able to take the knowledge they have learned throughout certification and put it into practice with clients in an ethical manner.

This program provides strong eclectic theoretical underpinnings to the clinical integration of animals in therapy.  It will include 10 hours of live, virtual learning, a self-reflective and interactive activity, and 10 hours of in person learning at Healing Hoofbeats of CT with canines, equines, and other livestock.  Incorporating ethical eduaction and best practices for animal welfare are critical components of any clinical interaction as they provide a lens to understand animal emotions and actions, without which we cannot ethically help our clients and ensure the animals' welfare.

This program is brought to you by:

Renee Bouffard, LCSW, Executive Director Healing Hoofbeats of CT

Kate Nicoll, LCSW, RPT, Executive Director Soul Friend INC.
